This truefresco cupola decoration was made in Autumn of 2004. The surface of this complex mural painting is about 30 sq. meters, the circle has diameter 6,20 meters. The iconography for this sacred image was taken from the Monreale cupola mosaic decoration. The text around the medallion with half-figure of Christ was taken from the second chapter of St. John's Apocalypse. In this case it was necessary to create a "hanging" image, which might not seem too "heavy" and oppressive for people, staying under it. So, we divided the cupola vault in two parts by the yellow "belt" with the holy scripture from Apocalypse and made Archangels and Serafins figures so different, "flying" in so much empty space. We had two very interesting tasks in this work. The unusual architectural scheme of the church, where a very large cupola lays directly on the squinches, needed a special solution. Usually, when the cupola is high, laying on the trompet, we see figures of prophets and apostles, who visually "support" it.
Unfortunately by now there is no permanent priest in this church, and the holy celebrations are'nt regular. We ask everybody to pray Jesus Christ Our Lord to give a permanent priest to this newly restored church.
